Health Care Reform
Affordable and accessible health care is critically important to the well being and productivity of U.S. citizens. Reforming the health care system, however, to achieve affordable and accessible care is a difficult and politically explosive issue.
SAF asserts that health care reform is needed but does not support a federal takeover of the health care system in the name of reform. SAF would support areas of reform such as the development of association health plans, reform of medical malpractice laws, enacting incentives to achieve lower costs, guaranteeing renewability and portability, creating simplified paperwork and administrative requirements and enacting a permanent 100 percent deduction for the self employed. Furthermore SAF supports a market-based healthcare system and would oppose an employer mandate.
