A political action committee is a pooled fund of small, private donations which are used solely to finance elections. Citing the need to play a more active role in the political process, the Society of American Florists Political Action Committee (SAFPAC) was formed in 1979. SAFPAC provides contributions to deserving federal candidates to help elect them to office. Contributions coming from SAFPAC give visibility to the entire floral industry and help SAF’s lobbying efforts. A healthy SAFPAC is essential to send a message to senators and representatives that SAF members are active and interested in government affairs and politics.

Are you attending SAF's Annual Convention this year? Support SAFPAC while you are there, by playing in the SAFPAC Golf Tournament. It's a great way to test your skills on the course and support SAF's legislative efforts. Contact Brian Gamberini for more information on the SAFPAC Golf Tournament.

How does SAF determine who gets a SAFPAC donation?

Candidates running for office who wish to recieve
donations from SAFPAC are judged by three criteria.

Issues: How does the candidate "stack up" on the topics that are important to the floral industry?

Outreach: Is the candidate accessible to SAF members
in the district and SAF staff?

Electability: Does the candidate have a chance at winning the race?
